As I mentioned a few days ago, AOL and the Huffington Post partnered on an all-new web series called THE CHOICE: “Everyday insights to help you live better, stronger and smarter.” I am the high performance life coach that they selected to work on the episodes to walk people through little tools that can make a big difference.
Today’s episode is all about how doing less can actually help you accomplish one heck of a lot more.
Check it out!
Once you’ve seen the video, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Is that the way you work? Will this change the way you work at all? Let us know!
Have a great week and have your live make a difference!
So true.
Multi-tasking has for so long been elevated to be some superior approach to work efficiency.
I may have 15 or 20 different windows open on my desktop PC at any time but I work best when I scan them all briefly to see what might help me in the current task but then minimise them all except the current task and give that my full attention.
Also, we have lost sight of the distinction between urgent and important – there are very few truly urgent tasks that require you to drop everything and switch focus. When we say “but this is urgent”, we often mean “this is important” – if it is important, then schedule a realistic block of time for dealing with it exclusively. Since I srated doing this (actually blocking periods in my calendar for scheduling writing, follow-up calls, etc), I not only get my schedule back under control but I also tackle each block as a fresh “project” unburdened by distractions.
Spot on, Cheryl!
I agree with Peter..I can get so overwhelmed with my “to do” projects…its not even a list…its a book of things needed to get done…and sometimes my mind plays tricks and tells me “its urgent”…therefore causing me to get stuck..
Time blocking and not getting derailed…staying focused.. is one of my “most important urgent” things to master!!!
Thanks for the video Cheryl, you rock!!!!
Thank you, Lisa! It can be a feat for all of us with so much coming at us at such a quick pace.
Oh, and you rock, too! 🙂
Thank you for your contribution, Peter! What an image you paint with the 15-20 different windows open at one time; those kind of attention-stealing work habits can really get the better of us. So smart that you minimize the others so that you can work effectively. Good suggestion! Love the time blocking calendaring idea, too. Thanks again!
This is AWESOME!!!! Loved it!!! Very helpful, interesting, informative useful info- Thanks, Chery!!! 😉
Thank you so much, Mary! Thrilled that you found it helpful!
You are absolutely right about the importance of this series! Uplifting the masses!
